Cuttack lad Bhaskar Behera bagged the senior boys’ all-round title in the 39th Odisha State Gymnastics Championship, which was organised by Odisha Gymnastics Association at Indoor Stadium, Talabania, Puri on March 11 and 12, 2017. Sitakanta Ojha and Umakanta Ojha finished second and third respectively.
Jagadish Barik, Aehsan Khan and Preety Reddy emerged all-round champions in under-14, under-17 boys and under 12 girls’ groups respectively. Debasis Reddy bagged double by winning apparatus titles in both under-10 boys’ table vault and floor exercise events.
Odisha Gymnastics Association vice-president Narendra Kumar Sethi and secretary Asho Sahoo handed over the trophies in the closing function. Indian gymnastics coach Ashok Kuamr Mishra, state government coach Pradeep Sahoo, former Odisha international gymnast Suvendra Patra and current international gymnast Rakesh Patra were present on the occasion.
